You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”

“You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.'

You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”

The Cold Shoulder

I am one of those people who no matter what the season, is always cold.  I can no longer tolerate the rush of cold air shooting out of an air vent above me, nor can I stand a chilly sea breeze blowing off the ocean.  I think my intolerance has worsened with age so I've come to accept the fact that I am now one of those "old" people who keeps a blanket in the car and a shawl or sweater on hand "just in case".
A couple of years ago while looking through patterns on Ravelry I stumbled across the Quick Knit Lacy Capelet
by Kelly Mac Designs.
It was love at first sight; a stylish, shoulder wrap that would surely keep me warm. I bought the pattern and the suggested Malabrigo
( Rasta)Yarn and went to work. The pattern was easy to follow and worked up fast. .... until I ran out of yarn that is.

Color photo darker than appears here.
(Apparently I misread the amount needed.) I tried to find one more matching skein but to no avail.   I put the unfinished capelet away with every intention of someday finding the right LOT number and completing the project. That day came last week (two years later. ) While perusing the same shop where I had purchased the original yarn, I spotted it. There it was, one orphaned skein of the Rasta on the discounted rack. While it didn't have the information band wrap on it the yarn appeared to me to be the same, AND it was on sale. Without hesitation I bought the hank and finished the capelet.

A keen eye will notice the collar of his capelet is a shade off. That makes no difference to me, it is lovely and it actually makes it a "one of a kind".
Here I am wearing my new hand knit Capelet while happily avoiding any chance of getting
 "the cold shoulder".

Cheers!

Fly High And Enjoy The View

As many of you know, I really love making things for babies and toddlers; be it knit, crochet or sewing I love it. So when  family friends let us know they would be traveling East for Christmas with their 10 month son, I knew exactly what to make to herald his arrival to our chilly climate. A hat, not just any hat, but the Aviator Hat Designed by Sarah Zimmerman. Of course I already had the yarn as it was purchased years ago with plans of making a darling little lion hat for another baby and YES, you guessed it, sadly the hat never materialized.

So "Here's To You"
Sweet Jonathan.
Fly high and enjoy the view💓
